About Dr. Woodward, Board CertifiedTM Veterinary Dentist

Dr. Tony M. Woodward,
Board Certified Veterinary DentistTM

Tony M. Woodward DVM, AVDC graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Colorado State University in 1977, and subsequently attended veterinary school at the same institution, graduating in 1981. He began practicing in Colorado after graduation, focusing primarily on small animal practice.

Beginning in 1996, Dr. Woodward realized how much undiagnosed painful dental disease was present in veterinary patients and was drawn into improving the dental care of pets. Since June 2000, he limited his practice to strictly veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. In March 2001, Dr. Woodward opened Animal Dental Care in Colorado Springs, one of the few practices in the United States devoted entirely to the treatment of dental and oral surgical diseases of veterinary patients. Dr. Woodward opened Montana Pet Dentistry and Oral Surgery in Bozeman in 2011. Initially this practice was part-time, but became a full-time endeavor after Dr. Woodward moved to Montana in 2015.

Dr. Woodward is Board-CertifiedTM in Veterinary Dentistry, and is a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental CollegeTM. This is the most advanced level of certification available in veterinary dentistry, allowing Dr. Woodward to state that he is a “Specialist” in veterinary dentistry.

As part of his training for board certification, Dr. Woodward obtained over 1000 hours of dental-specific education, including hundreds of hours spent with human and veterinary dental specialists, numerous professional meetings and hands-on laboratory sessions. He has lectured locally and nationally to many veterinarians and staff members on dental-related topics and thousands of people from all over North America have been trained by him at the veterinary dental training facility he opened in Colorado.

Dr. Woodward was elected and served as Secretary/Treasurer and later President of the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association. He has been awarded membership of the Morris Animal Foundation’s prestigious Veterinary Honor Roll.

Personal interests include fly fishing, backpacking, windsurfing, mountain biking, guitar, Labrador Retrievers, and spending time with his family.
